The Performance Conversations Challenge — a 7-day challenge where you practice the conversations most managers avoid. AI-scored. Leaderboard-ranked. No theory, just reps.
How it works
Each day at midnight CET, a new performance conversation unlocks. Play it up to 3 times. Your highest score for the day goes on the leaderboard.
Every day at 00:00 CET you get a new manager-employee conversation. Read the brief, understand the context, enter the simulation.
Each attempt is scored by AI across 7 behavioral competencies. Adjust your approach between attempts. Your best score counts.
Your daily best scores accumulate over 7 days. Public leaderboard updates daily. Maximum possible: 7,000 points.
7 scenarios
From a routine 1:1 to a formal PIP. Each day raises the stakes — and demands more from your conversation skills.
Regular check-in with an employee who gives minimal input, avoids initiative, and waits for instructions. Your job: draw them out.
Warm-upAn employee has been missing deadlines consistently. You need to address the pattern without damaging the relationship.
FundamentalsAn employee asks for a promotion. They're not ready. You need to say no clearly while keeping them motivated and showing a path forward.
ResistanceAn employee disagrees with their performance rating. They come prepared with arguments. You need to hold your assessment while genuinely listening.
ResistanceGreat results, terrible team impact. You need to address behavior without losing a top contributor — or sacrificing the rest of the team.
ComplexAn employee is showing clear signs of burnout but insists everything is fine. You need to break through the denial without overstepping.
ComplexFormal performance improvement plan. High stakes, legal implications, emotional weight. This is the final boss — everything you've practiced comes together.
High stakesScoring framework
Each conversation is evaluated on observable behaviors — not what you know, but what you actually do in the dialogue.
Setting a clear agenda, following a logical flow, returning to the objective when the conversation drifts, closing with next steps.
Specific, behavior-based, evidence-backed feedback. No vague generalizations. Observation → impact → expectation.
Open questions, paraphrasing, not interrupting. Responding to content, not just reacting to emotion.
Staying steady under pressure. No defensiveness, no counter-attacks. Acknowledging the other person's emotion without losing control.
Naming the problem clearly. Not softening to the point of ambiguity. Saying "no" with reasoning when needed.
Concrete actions, deadlines, owners. Checking agreement — not just informing. Defining consequences and follow-up.
Considering context. Showing genuine interest in the other person's perspective before drawing conclusions. Respect regardless of content.
